Palotota maths and science academy is an institution in Ikageng location.
The Academy enrols learners in grade 8 to grade 12. It was established in 2021, September by Mr Kgotso Moroenyane.
Mr Moroenyane is a proficient mathematics educator whose passion lies in developing young minds.
However, the visions and missions were presented by Mr Lerefolo (the Academy director and deputy Principal).
Mr Moroenyane serves as the principal for the academy and a teacher for the FET phase learners.

The founder of Palotota Maths and science Academy was born in Potchefstroom, North West and attended Boitirelo Primary school and proceeded to Botoka Technical school where he matriculated in 2017.

The founder achieved Distinction in mathematics in his final NSC certificate. He studied Bachelor of Education in Mathematics and is a mathematics educator.

He has been in the tutoring business for approximately 6 years and working as an assistant mathematics teacher in various high schools around his township.

He is a passionate and dedicated mathematics educator who sees the future in the young minds, who believes in shaping the proficiency of learners in mathematics and science. He values education, discipline, integrity and collaboration.

The Academy is established to equip high school learners with skills and proficiency in the mathematics and science disciplines. It develops learners’ enthusiasm and affection towards the subjects. It mainly assists learners with the concepts covered by educators at their respective schools and accommodate them according to the pace at which they grasp the knowledge.

This establishment also ensures that concepts learnt are emphasised and thus allowing learners to pose questions and engage in collaborative learning. We ensure that we provide quality education and make use of the Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement and stipulated Annual Teaching Plans and ensure that we are on the same path with educators at schools. The main goal for this notion is to produce excellent academic performances in mathematics and science. Mathematics and science are often referred to as “complex” by most of the learners in high school to an extent that the very same learners lose the enthusiasm for the aforementioned disciplines.

In addition, content covered by educators in class is somehow delivered to learners according to their rate of grasping the knowledge but for the sake of being in accordance to the pacesetters. We realised that learners do not fully develop the conceptual understanding within the specific concepts and this affects the proficiency in the subjects. Some learners are also afraid to pose questions to educators in class and can even go home without understanding the concepts.
